2025 OSSAA Team Preview: Moore Lions
February 22, 2025
The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 24 for classes A and B and Mar. 1 for classes 2A-6A, opening day for regular season action under OSSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.
Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.
Our 2025 preseason coverage continues today.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK
No. of Returning Position Players: 7
No. of Returning Pitchers: 7
Top Returners:
Dez Roach - 2025, CF, L/R, Dez combines elite speed with great skill in the outfield, and will be a top of the order bat for us this season. He possesses great baserunning skill as well. We expect big contributions this season from him.
Ty Talkington - 2025, C/INF/RHP, R/R, Ty is our on-field general. He can and will lead from any position on the field. Ty has a high baseball IQ that allows him to play multiple positions at an above-average level.
Carder Riley - 2025, 2B/RHP, R/R, Carder is the model of discipline, and combines good bat-to-ball skills with above average speed. One of our better baserunners.
Crue Riley - 2025, OF/LHP, L/L, Crue when healthy mans the corner OF spots and provides us with a competitive left-handed mound presence and great pop at the plate. He unfortunately has an injury that will keep him off the field, but not out of the lineup.
Max Howe - 2025, 1B/LHP, L/L, Max is an incredible teammate and quality defensive presence at 1B. He is a patient hitter who has added alot of size and strength this offseason. He will also be one of our go to arms.
Peyton Eichler - 2025, RHP, Peyton has an extremely high ceiling that he is getting closer to everyday. Look for him to compete for a lot of our high leverage innings. He has great stuff.
AJ Brennan - 2025, OF, R/R, AJ is as consistent as they come. He leads extremely well and is the guy in the locker room that commands respect from everyone but is universally loved as well. He is a great athlete that has improved a ton offensively and defensively.
Cole Gossett - 2026, RHP/3B, R/R, Cole gained valuable experience on the mound as a sophomore last spring, has added strength and improved his stuff. He will be one of our starters on the mound this spring, and is competing for heavy innings at 3B as well.
Maverick Gardner - 2026, SS/RHP, R/R, Maverick is a talented athlete who lettered in four sports before the end of his sophomore year. He will be a mainstay at SS and at the top of the lineup. We will rely on him to set the table for the offense and provide aggression on the bases.
Izzac Mia - 2026, C/RHP, R/R, Izzac is another guy who had an injury and unfortunately will only be able to contribute offensively this season.
Silas Foster - 2026, OF/RHP, R/R, Silas had his sophomore season cut short due to injury, but was already seeing varsity time. He is poised for a big role once healthy. Extremely athletic kid with a big ceiling.
Grady Glidden - 2027, LHP, Grady burst onto the scene as a freshman last season and took over district starting duties. He cruised to a sub-2 ERA and averaged more than a K per inning. We have high expectations for him heading into his second year on Varsity.
Top Newcomers:
Trey Graham - 2025, C, R/R, Trey has immense upside behind the plate and in his bat. He has added a ton of strength and speed this offseason. We expect him to make some noise.
Alex Worley - 2025, OF/RHP, R/R, Alex has been a pleasant surprise this offseason. He has worked extremely hard to position himself as a starter and go-to pitcher.
Josiah Abshire - 2026, 3B/RHP, R/R, Josiah has been another great story this offseason. He has been consistent and has earned opportunities in the field and on the mound.
Key Players Lost:
Cooper Howe (NOC Enid)
Jayshaun Sykes (EOSC)
Jacob Stull
Coach’s Insight: “We will rely on our veteran leadership and returning experience on the mound and at the plate. We have quality depth in multiple places and will look to lean on that often. Our weakness this past season was the inability to score in multiple ways, which led to a lot of close losses. The players have worked consistently on creating a dynamic approach to offense that will give us opportunities to score in a lot of ways.” – Joe Haddox, head coach
