Future Games Tryout: Malibu - Pitcher Analysis

On Saturday, May 31st, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the Future Games Tryout: Malibu at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Cal. This was an invite-only event for high school classes (2026-27), and gave our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

Nearly 40 players made their way to Pepperdine University this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball California staff.

Today, we will be looking at all of the pitcher scouting reports:

TOP PITCHING PROSPECTS

1. Justin Kirchner, Harvard-Westlake (CA), 2027 |
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Versatile two-way player with a strong arm, four-pitch mix, and an athletic, well-rounded offensive and defensive skill set.
Body: 6-3, 210-pounds. Projectable frame, athletic body with present strength.
Delivery: Works exclusively out of the stretch, glove at waist in setup. Short leg kick with sink into legs when coming downhill. Fluid action, quick tempo, long stride.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm coming over the top. Whippy.
FB: T87, 86-87 mph. High-carry FB with strong vertical life and run. Around the zone. T2394, 2343 average rpm.
CB: 78-80 mph. Tight spinning CB with 12/6 shape and late breaking action. T2560, 2511 average rpm.
SL: 83-84 mph. Tight, high-spin SL with cutter-like profile. T2414, 2371 average rpm.
CH: 79-81 mph. Displays subtle drop and fade to the arm side. T2526, 1315 average rpm.
