On Sunday, March 2nd, the PB California staff traveled to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA, to host the Orange County Rising Stars ID, an open event for the class of 2028-2029.

Nearly 15 players made their way to Santa Ana and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball California staff.

Below, you’ll find all of the scouting reports from the event with the top prospect at each position from the day.


TOP CATCHER

Dylan Hendon C / OF / Mater Dei, CA / 2029

Positional Profile: C
Body: 6-1, 175 pounds. Solid present frame with emerging strength.
Hit: RHH. Balanced even set up with high hand set at ear height. Higher back elbow. Bat waggle. Sits into back leg to load with double toe tap on front side. Hands load down and back. Aggressive hips/sinks into legs with an uphill bat path.
Power: 90 mph max exit velocity (84 avg.); 341-foot max batted distance. Strong present impact with lift in bat path and carry after contact in the air.
Arm: RH. C - 70.00 mph. Clean transfer with compact quick arm stroke. Can improve footwork/direction.
Defense: 2.14-2.26 pop time range; Sound receiver with strength in wrists and feel for position.
Athletic Testing: 7.68 runner in the 60-yard dash. Tall run posture with short strides.
