Winter Update: Blast Leaderboard

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

The Winter Hitter/Pitcher Update, PBR Nevada's final event of 2020, has concluded with a number of players making the most of their opportunity to improve their metrics while being analyzed and assessed by the most advanced baseball technology in the game in TrackMan and Blast Motion.

The Blast Motion system provides real time swing analysis that will be shared with players following the event to see what areas of their swings they excel as well as areas they may be deficient in to know where they can improve on for future events/competition. The TrackMan system post contact date that allows prospects to immediately review the results of a batted ball, providing metrics such as Distance, Exit Velocity, Spin Rate, Launch Angle and much more. These two systems combines produce an unrivaled amount of information at the prospects fingertips that they will be able to review sessions, track progress and compare themselves to see where they stack up against players in their class.

The Blast Leaderboard will highlight the players who received the top in-swing metrics at the recent Winter Update event at Elite Training Academy.

Peak Hand Speed

Peak Hand Speed is the observed maximum speed as measured on the handle of the bat (measured six inches from the knob of the bat). Peak Hand Speed will occur prior to the moment of impact, very close to the commit time in the swing when the wrists unhinge. For more info: Peak Hand Speed

MLB Avg: 23-29 mph MiLB Avg: 22-28 mph College Avg: 21-24 mph

Max Rotational Acceleration

The quicker your rotational acceleration, the more power you will have and the more time you have to adjust to pitch locations. For more info: Rotational Acceleration

MLB Avg: 16.8 g   MiLB Avg: 12.6 g   College Avg: 12.9 g

On Plane Efficiency
