December 17, 2025
Yesterday, we released our updated state rankings update, for the 2027 class, now that the fall season has come to an end. Throughout the fall, our staff traveled across the state, to see as many prospects and teams as possible, and we were able to see more prospects than we've ever seen before. Our state rankings for the 2027 class expanded to 270 players in total for this update, and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list. Today, we take a look at a few guys that made a move up in this rankings update.

STATE RANKINGS RISERS (2027 CLASS)

John Parker Moak OF / LHP / Ruston, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 5
5-foot-10, 170-pound athletic frame with a strong lower half. Moak has continued to trend upward and enters his junior spring with a ton of momentum. The Ruston product showcased a full complement of tools at our annual State Games event in September, highlighted by a blazing 6.63 laser-timed 60 and a strong outfield arm up to 89 mph. The carrying tool for Moak is the bat. He employs a simple, no-frills setup, staying quiet and balanced throughout the swing. His barrel works behind the baseball early and stays flat through the hitting zone, allowing him to drive pitches to all parts of the field. It’s a line-drive, gap-to-gap approach that fits comfortably at the top of an order. Still uncommitted, Moak should be firmly on recruiting radars as one of the must-see prospects in North Louisiana this spring.

Cooper Austin C / Central, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 25 / POS: 4
6-foot, 185-pound athletic and lean frame with room to add more strength. Austin was another big winner from our annual State Games event in September and enters his junior spring trending firmly upward. The Central BR product is one of the top receivers in the state, regardless of class. He consistently presents the ball out front and sticks pitches with quiet, efficient movements—an innate skill that’s difficult to teach. Austin pairs that receiving ability with athletic footwork and a quick, clean transfer on throwdowns, and his arm strength continues to tick up, now reaching 82 mph from the crouch. Offensively, he profiles as a line-drive hitter with a mature understanding of the strike zone. Perhaps most importantly—especially in today’s recruiting landscape with the new 34-man Division I roster limit—Austin brings true positional versatility and above-average athleticism. That combination makes him one of the more valuable and intriguing uncommitted junior prospects in Louisiana.

Reece Tillman OF / RHP / Central, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 33 / POS: 7
Physical 6-foot-2, 205-pound frame. The Central BR product made noticeable strides over the fall break, and his performance at our annual State Games event reflected those gains. He posted a personal-best 6.64 laser-timed 60 and flashed a strong outfield arm up to 90 mph. At the plate, he delivered true gap-to-gap power, registering exit velocities up to 101.8 mph, another personal best. The hit tool translated in gameplay as well, as he collected multiple knocks throughout the weekend—including an impressive opposite-field triple. A physical, trending-up junior with power, speed, and arm strength, he cemented himself as one of the louder fall risers in the state.

Landyn Craft 3B / 2B / St. Thomas More, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 36 / POS: 3
5-foot-11, 208-pound compact and physical frame. The St. Thomas More product is one of the top uncommitted junior infielders in Louisiana and a must-see name for college programs this spring. A quality athlete, Craft can really run, posting a 6.67 laser-timed 60, and that athleticism carries over to his defensive game. He profiles as a second or third baseman at the next level, showing crisp actions, soft hands, and a strong arm across the diamond up to 86 mph. Offensively, Craft employs a short-to-long path with a mature, gap-to-gap approach that produces exit velocities up to 98 mph. A physical mover with tools, game presence, and projection, Craft should draw plenty of recruiting attention heading into the spring.

Nathan Sprankle RHP / Benton High School, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 37 / POS: 8
Lean and wiry at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Sprankle owns plenty of physical projection with significant strength gains still ahead. Benton has quietly become one of the state’s more consistent producers of quality arms in recent years, and Sprankle looks like the next in line to emerge from the Tigers’ program. Working exclusively out of the stretch on the first-base side of the rubber, he strides slightly closed and does a great job of hiding the baseball, adding a layer of built-in deception. His quick arm works through a high three-quarter slot, filling up the zone with an 86–88 mph fastball that plays up thanks to an average 7.1 feet of extension (per TrackMan Baseball). He complements it with a sharp 76–78 mph curveball featuring true 11–5 shape, and he flashes an 81–82 mph splitterwith late tumble and spin-killing action. Uncommitted for now, Sprankle checks all the boxes of a rising junior arm and should be firmly on college recruiting radars this spring.
