April 20, 2017
By: Zac Bottoms
 Arkansas Scouting Director
The 7A West and the 7A Central have two weeks remaining, in the regular season as they do not play a conference tournament to decide seeding for the state tournament. Each team’s overall record will determine seeding. Each conference will get 6 teams into the play offs, leaving the final two teams from each side missing the state tournament.

A series win next week, a bye is a guarantee, if they handle their business against struggling Heritage |
|
 Bentonville |
 6-4 |
 11-10 |
 Heritage, Bentonville West |
The best schedule left with games against the bottom 2, 4 wins could leave them in the mix for a top seed |

 10-10 |
 Bentonville West, Springdale |
The Mounties control their own destiny by playing both teams chasing them: Young team growing up right now |

Playing their best baseball, they have an opportunity to steal the final spot in the last 2 weeks’ little margin for error |

Cabot; A two game lead with 5 remaining and two of those games vs bottom 3 teams, almost a lock for a top 2 seed, with a little work, the No.1 seed is close,
North Little Rock; A 1.5 game lead over Conway due to beating them head-to head, and a game against Bryant, they control their own destiny, It will be interesting if there is a lot at stake the final game at Cabot. Last match up went 10 innings.
Conway; The preseason favorite, has been steady all year, they have lost some close games, if they flip the script in the 1 run games, very easily work their way into the No.2 spot getting a coveted bye.
Bryant; A young club that is playing sound baseball, it will be interesting to see if the youngsters fade down the stretch or continue to stay in the mix. A solid opportunity in front of them, their final three games.
Catholic: Pitching has been steady all year, giving them a consistent chance to win; they’ll have to convert a few of those chances into victories to secure a spot, a 2-game lead with 5 remaining, and games against the teams chasing them.
Northside; A two game lead with 5 remaining over cross town rival Southside and a 2.5 game lead on Central, after sweeping their series. A tough schedule remaining for the Grizzlies, the final spot may come down to the Battle of Rogers Avenue, the last game of the season.
Southside; They need to win one of their next three and beat Northside and Central, to have an outside shot of getting in. 2 games back with 5 remaining, it doesn’t look great for the Mavericks.
Central; 2.5 games back of Northside, and 2 back of Catholic. They do have a 2-1 victory over Catholic which could be big if it comes down to a tie breaker on the final game of the season.
