The Alabama Scout Blog returns for the 2026 high school season, providing insider information and on-site scouting notes from the Prep Baseball Alabama staff throughout the week. This running blog will be updated daily as our staff hits fields across the state, spotlighting standout performers and notable prospects from each stop.

Each update will feature a collection of players who stood out, complete with scouting blurbs, evaluations, and video highlights added below each report. Coverage will include underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft follows, and any performances that demand attention.

Expect a wide range of information throughout the week, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, and other key metrics, along with context from what we’re seeing in game action. Be sure to check back daily, as new reports and videos will be added every time our staff is out at the ballpark.

Game: Trinity Presbyterian vs. Saint James

+ SS/RHP Land Sharpless (Trinity Presbyterian, 2029) continues to separate himself from a deep group of 2029 shortstops in Alabama, showing polish and confidence well beyond his years. A former Prep Baseball Junior Future Games alum and the Wildcats’ starting quarterback, the 6-foot, 170-pound freshman brings a true athlete’s profile with athleticism and body control on both sides of the ball. At the plate, he operates with a smooth, rhythmic setup and advanced bat-to-ball skills, showing the ability to change planes, cover the zone, and adjust to different pitch shapes. The strength is beginning to show more in the frame, highlighted by a pair of loud swings that produced a double and a triple off the left-field wall of a minor league park. Hitting in the three-hole and handling shortstop duties as a freshman, Sharpless carries himself with noticeable confidence and maturity, and the overall look continues to trend upward.
