2026 MSHSAA Team Preview: Marshfield Blue Jays

Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

The Missouri high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 19, opening day for regular season action under MSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Missouri Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2026 preseason coverage continues today.

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK

No. of Returning Position Players: 7
No. of Returning Pitchers: 8

Top Returners:

  • Hunter Fryman (2026) - INF/P, 6'1, 185, R/R
    • Davidson commit
    • One of our top arms on the mound and was a huge part of our success last season. Had a really good offensive year last year and look for him to be even better this season.
  • Carson Adams (2026) - INF/P, 6'3, 185, L/R
    • East Central JC commit
    • Missed most of the season last year with an injury and will be a huge impact in our lineup. Very disciplined hitter with great bat to ball skills. Will be a big part of our pitching rotation.
  • Carter James (2026) - C/OF, 5'7, 170, R/R
    • Solid catcher behind the plate. One of our more consistent hitters with RISP.
  • Keegan Reynolds (2026) - P/INF, 6'2, 200, S/R
    • Will be a top arm out of the pen and will compete for time in the lineup.
  • Braden Jensen (2027) - INF/P, 6', 240, R/L
    • Arguably one of the best hitters in SW Missouri. Drove in 47 RBI's as a sophomore with 7 HR's.
  • Jayce Baedke (2027) - OF/P, 6', 205, L/L
    • Another top arm on the mound for us and should be even better with added velo. Had a solid sophomore season at the plate and will look to be an even bigger presence in the order.
  • Easton Curley (2027) - UTIL/P, 6'3, 185, R/R
    • Super versatile kid that can play just about anywhere. Grinds out AB's and is a disciplined hitter. Another arm for us out of the pen.
  • Case Steinbach (2027) - OF/P, 5'11, 165, L/R
    • Will be one of our best outfielders. Looking to have a bounce back year offensively.
  • Caleb Kasper (2027) - RHP, 6', 200
    • Another arm returning for us who pitched a significant amount of innings. Has added some velo and worked on his secondary pitches to create more swing and miss stuff.

Top Newcomers:

  • Chandler Barb (2027) - INF, 6'2, 200, R/R
    • Can play anywhere in the infield and can be that plug and play guy depending on who is on the mound. Will be another guy who can grind out AB's and be a solid bat in the lineup.
  • Trenton Rosenthal (2027) - UTL, 6', 170, R/R
    • Athletic kid who will look to step in to the lineup as a junior this season.
  • Brock Jensen (2028) - OF/P, 6', 150, L/R
    • Will be a depth piece in the OF and can compete for time out there everyday. Saw some time on the mound last season and should get a lot more this spring.

Key Players Lost:

Coach’s Insight: “This will be the most experienced lineup we have had in my time as head coach. It is a very competitive group and they push each other each day. A lot of them have played together for a long time so team chemistry will be a strength. We lack having a 90 mph arm or two to be dominant and create more swings and misses.” – William Pate, head coach
