The 2025 California high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

We are coming off a strong showing in 2024 which saw our program reach the first round of the CIF-SS Division 8 playoffs. With a roster full of returning players who played key roles on that team and have experience on the varsity level we have a squad that we have high hopes for. - Coach Soto

PREP BASEBALL CA STAFF’S TAKE

Cate is a small school where many of the players on the baseball team play 2 if not 3 sports which provides them with some athletic versatile players all over the diamond whose athletic ability helps them perform at a high level on the small school stage. In 2024 the Rams finished second in the Frontier League behind Foothill Tech and dropped their opener in the Division 8 CIF-SS playoffs. With the majority of the top performers returning from that team lead by SR. captains Quinn Pullen (.489 avg / 1.27 ERA) and Peter Lehman (.347 avg / 2.33 ERA) the Rams look to compete with Foothill Tech again at the top of the Frontier League and have sights set on a deeper playoff run come May of 2025. - Steven Hardesty Assistant Scouting Director
