Colorado 2029 Initial Class Rankings
October 13, 2025
The Colorado initial 2029 class rankings consists of 40 top players within the state. Our Prep Baseball Colorado staff got the chance to see plenty of rising 2029 talent within Colorado over the last year, including coaching Team Colorado's Junior Future Games squad who made it to the 'Gold Bracket' at LakePoint this summer in Atlanta. Most of these ranked players have been identified through our Prep Baseball showcase events where prospects can display their abilities directly in front of the Colorado scouting directors. When creating our rankings, we consider various factors, such as skills, physical abilities, potential, projection, and on-field performance as well.

WHO'S AT THE TOP:

Jake Richards SS / RHP / Arvada West, CO / 2029Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
Richards was one of the biggest impact players for Team Colorado during the Junior Future Games this summer at LakePoint. The young righty got the start on the mound in Game 1 against a tough Southeast roster where he went 4 innings with 8 Ks, zero earned runs, and a fastball up to 83 mph. What really stands out for Richards on the mound is his already advanced pitchability and feel for his full arsenal which comes with some intriguing metrics. Richards' fastball generates an impressive 18.1 inches of IVB (induced vertical break) with a spin rate maxing out near 2,600 rpm. We have also seen Richards showcase strong curveball and slider mix, both of which come in at over 2,800 rpm of spin. To round out his arsenal, Richards possesses a changeup from 78-80 mph with an average of 16.7 inches of horizontal movement.

Lissandro Royer RHP / OF / Ponderosa, CO / 2029Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
Royer comes into his freshman year with imposing size and strength on the mound at 6'2'' & 220 Ibs. The right-hander presents some real arm talent at a young age as well, already posting a fastball in the mid-to-upper 80s. Royer has a chance to be an immediate impact arm this spring, and his high ceiling should continue grow as he gets even stronger and refines his craft.

Dylan Hoff SS / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2029Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 2
Another big winner from this summer's Junior Future Games in Atlanta was switch-hitting infielder, Dylan Hoff. The freshman displays a mature approach in the box while he gathered extra-base hits to all parts of the field during the games. Hoff has a chance to be a true switch-hitter with upside from both sides of the plate, while his increasing athleticism and ability to play a premium position gives him one of the highest ceilings in this class moving forward.

Quentin Costa OF / RHP / Mountain Vista High School, CO / 2029Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 1
Costa has a highly projectable frame at 6'1'' & 165 Ibs with athleticism and strength to produce as a two-way prospect. We have already seen Costa ramp the fastball up to 83 mph on the mound while his arm strength suggests there is more velocity on the way thanks to his 87 mph outfield throwing velocity. Costa also has some feel for spin in his arsenal with his fastball coming in around 2,400 rpm, and his curveball around 2,500 rpm to go with a serviceable changeup as well. At the plate, Costa has registered a 91 mph top exit velocity and runs a 7.2 60-yard dash.

Brecken Reed SS / RHP / Arvada West, CO / 2029Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 3
Reed is a strong two-way prospect worth following with some hitterish vibes in the batter's box and plenty of developing athleticism. On the mound, Reed has been seen in the low-to-mid 80s while his approach at the plate showcases his ability to drive the baseball with some quality, and quick hands. Reed's high-waisted frame with active strength and the ability to play up the middle in the infield makes him one of Colorado's premier young prospects.
