Indiana Fall State Games: Sophomore Standouts
October 15, 2025
The Indiana Fall State Games have come to a conclusion and brought nearly 200 uncommitted prospects from around the state to Championship Park. After highlighting the freshman shortly after the event, our staff has shifted focus to the talented group of 2028s that were in attendance. This class begins to be put under the microscope with their recruiting year looming, and several players at this event boosted stock - becoming names to know for not only our staff, but area/national recruiters as well.
Find the 2028s that caught our eye below - with the full event statistics linked HERE, along with the post-event coverage of the rising freshman found HERE.

+ LHP Brody Drake
An uber-athletic southpaw from a talent-rich Center Grove program, Drake continues to elevate on the bump, making a statement and showing as easily one of the top 7 lefties we've evaled in the class to date. Compact athleticism stands out in the 5-foot-10 frame with ample twitch included, evident in the 6.70 60-yard dash turned in during the AM. There is easy effort to the drop&drive move down the slope and the arm works full/quick on the backside before getting to a 3/4 slot. 82-84 T 85 FB works with some run and glove side feel, 75-77 CH is sold w FB arm speed, 68-71 SL spun in the 21-2200s and holds upside. Strike-filled look. Big follow for next spring...

Athlete w compact 5’10 frame. Easier intent within athletic drop&drive, quick arm follows.

+ RHP Gavin McGee
Silky mover that is the highest-rated '28 that was in attendance. Athletic, stretch 6-footer with compact quickness to the arm - plays with advanced arm talent. Turned in above average athletic metrics, highlighted by a 7.0 60, and also reached 92 mph from the OF during position player workers. His highest ceiling look came on the bump, where he sat 86-87 and touched 89 on the heater. Spun two-distinct breakers that both showed bite and induced uncomfortable takes. Spin was his go-to land pitch in this outing with fastball strikes coming at a bit of a coin flip. Regardless, there is unteachable arm talent here that will garner recognition late next summer.
‘28 Gavin McGee (@GMAN422413) continues to show as an early name to know for the class.

+ SS Kalieb Walter
A bit of a late bloomer from the toolset side, but the frame is beginning to catch up to the actions and there is real intrigue blossoming. High-waisted within a 5-foot-11ish frame, Walter shined during gameplay against competition 1-2 years older, having no trouble against upper-80s velocities at the dish. The hands really work at the dish with natural lag to the path that helps him spray the ball from gap-to-gap. Impacted it for exits at 88-plus in workouts, that number projects to elevate after a winter in the weightroom. Actions match on the defensive side, under control with soft hands and serviceable arm strength. The run tool still lacks, but this feels like a for sure helium candidate for 2026.
‘28 SS Kalieb Walter (@kaliebwalter) has more than held his own playing 1-2 grades up.
— Prep Baseball Indiana (@PrepBaseballIN) October 11, 2025
Awesome actions all around w real bat to ball abilities. Strength will pay huge dividends, breakout candidate for 2026.
Pair of impactful swings👇👍#INFSG25 https://t.co/BhPwVthA0t pic.twitter.com/KXxYoXOzEE
+ SS Drew Dalton
The highest-rated '28 position player in attendance, Dalton reaffirmed his status as a premier SS follow for the class at this event, quietly performing throughout the day. The 6.78 60 he burned to start the day is an encouraging development trend that cements him as a middle of the diamond player moving forward, and he followed by showing the whippy barrel we've grown accustomed to seeing from him in batting practice, and in-game. He collected a pair of hits in-game with the uphill path optimizing hard contact for proper ball flights. Defensively, he showed solid average actions at short, with an 86 mph arm across the diamond. There is still projection to the 6-foot+, 170-pound frame with power potential looming if strength gains are made.

+ UTL Ben Finney
One of my favorite gamers in the class, Finney continues to do nothing but trend up as an athlete, and from a toolset perspective. The actions are prisitine with wiry strength to the 5-foot-10, 140-pound frame and there is room for more strength to be packed onto an already-twitchy body. Finney uses his ability to play almost every postion on the diamond to mitigate some R/R concern, though he embodies the 'undersized is the new 6'4' saying with a skillset that plays above his frame. There is controlled aggression to the way he takes well-sequenced hacks, peppering batting practice liners to the tune of 92-plus. The arm really works, up to 88 from the OF and 86 across the diamond, with a true CF/SS profile left on the table, especially considering the 7.00 run time he turned in (and it plays higher between the lines).

+ OF Rayden Morrow
Making a statement in batting practice with 100-plus exits and a 6.7 60-time, Morrow shined in his first Prep Baseball event leaving some of the biggest intrigue of any prospect that attended the Fall State Games, regardless of class. The body jumps out, already musclular with present physicality in the 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame. There is certain refinements to be had in the box, but when synced, there is big time raw power for the class and he showed it off with homers to the big part of the field in BP. The arm is a non-tool for now, and his in-game at-bats showed flashes of the power we saw in BP.
‘28 OF Rayden Morrow (@raydenmorrow20) made quite the impression during workouts on Day 2.

6’2” 185 w explosive nature. Rotational, connected stroke produced 100+ exits & he also burned a 6.71 in the 60.
Saw varsity time as a Frosh for Fort Wayne Snider 👍#INFSG25 pic.twitter.com/xC83x1mUBc
+ SS/P Rogan Bailey
A summer favorite with pristine projection to the 6-foot-3, 160-pound frame. Burned a 6.72 60 to reaffirm the 4.1 run times I got in the summer, projects to be a plus runner at some point with an easy gait and future strength being the safest of bets. Switch hitter with similiar swings from both sides, hands take a short path to present the barrel, launching from a lower handset that lacks separation. The approach is more contact-oriented in order to let the feet play. More impactful swings could continue to elevate him, but it is hard not to leave bullish on the frame, feet, and easy athletic actions that he showed at all times. Holds upside on the mound, as well, with an easy operation that produces a low-80s heater and feel for two secondaries.
SS/P Rogan Bailey (@bailey_rogan) looking the part of an upside two-way for 2028.

+ SS Carter Durbin
A strong follow from Jeffersonville since our early evals on this class, Durbin continues to show some of the best feet in the class, turning in a 6.69 60-yard dash to lead all 2028 grads at the Fall State Games. Ample twitch in the 5-foot-8, 145-pound frame. The feet amplify the offensive profile, though the present twitch that he does have helped him impact it for exits north-of 92 mph. Also showed no problem catching up to velocity during gameplay with the twitch making it to the hands, as well. Showed feel on the dirt with a quick-footed nature, sure hands, and average arm strength.
‘28 SS Carter Durbin (@Carterdurbin09) has been impressive while playing against older comp.

Turns around an upper-80s heater for a backside knock 👇
Turbo feet w feel on the dirt. Good follow from Southern Indiana. #INFSG25 https://t.co/fL5hRga8Ji pic.twitter.com/yWQACg8KvQ
+ RHP Logan Matiya
Matiya is a gut-feel pick that remains as an arm that I think will really make jumps at some point. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame is highly-projectable and he shows a laundry list of traits that I value for an arm at this age. The delivery is polished with efficient patterns and the arm works with looseness as it moves on a compact, full-circle path. He will pitch in the 78-81 mph range on his fastball, though he ran up to 84 when needed, speaking to the ease of operation. He can go both in + out with the FB and his mid-70s change is thrown with feel, and is arguably one of the best RH changeups I've evaled in the class. Completes his arsenal with a low-70s slurve that is an easy average pitch for the age. Matiya continues to reaffirm his T50 status in the class with athleticism, projection, and pitchability.

6’1” 175 lb frame w real projection. Silky operation w a chance to make big jumps. Can pitch.
Also looked the part in BP w 90 mph EV & quality ball flights.#INFSG25 pic.twitter.com/4hdbECShEe
+ LHP Charlie Johnson
A high-floor southpaw that continues to trend at a steady clip, Johnson showed a slight tick at this event while showing the same balanced look we've become familiar with. The 6-foot, 170-pounder lifts to an even balance point before making an in-line move to the plate, repeating a shorter arm stroke that he hides well to create some deception. Low-80s (T84) fastball plays with carry and sets the tunnel for three above average secondaries. Plenty of feel to go back-foot to RHH with a mid-70s slider, and he'll subtract with spin in the low-70s as more of a land pitch with bigger shape; also shows a quality change in the mid-70s. A starters' tab feels safe here, especially if he continues to trend in the fashion that he has over the course of our staffs' follows.

+ OF Tavian Trotter
'Data darling' with unteachable explosiveness and a physically-advanced, 6-foot, 180-pound frame. 97-plus showcase exits, with a 6.84 60, and an OF arm that reached into the upper-80s. Some inconsistencies in the swing/offensive approach but the raw tools are advanced.
+ C/UT Graham Vinson
High-waisted frame with quality actions across the board. Easy projections. On-plane, mechanically sound swing produced proper ball flights and 92-plus mph exits. Arm strength stood out as the best physical tool at the moment, 80 mph from the crouch and up to 83 on the bump. 7.26 60-time is an easy average for the class and likely elevates with maturity. Strong follow.
+ C Garret Deuser
Barrel-chested, 5-foot-11, 200-pounder with advanced physical strength. Produced the top peak exit of all 2028s at the Fall State Games, reaching 100.6 mph off the bat on the top end. Averaged 91.6 mph on balls in play during batting practice. Some inconsistencies to the forward move but when synced there is real strength and the swing works on a shorter path. More pullside approach. Turned in a 7.17 60, as well.
+ INF TJ Richason
Fundamental infielder with a proportional, 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame. Short, loose-wristed stroke works on-plane from the left-side for 91-plus mph exits. Showed the same quality actions on the dirt with average arm strength. Showed no problem versus older comp in game. 7.30 runner.
+ INF Grayson Gillespie
6-foot, 175-pound infielder with projection remaining. Showcased twitch and rotational strenght with a peak exit of 96.2 mph and clear pull side strength and likely more on the way. Also reached 86 mph across the diamond with easy average actions. The run time needs to trend up, but Gillespie elevates himself to a strong follow for 2026.
+ C Will Rees
Nothing flashy about his game, but he produces in nearly every look we get on him. On-plane stroke includes some twitch with exits that approach the 90 mph mark. Collected multiple in-game hits while looking the part of an above average defender behind the dish. Arm is best tool to date working 77 mph from the crouch with sub-2 pops. 7.2 runner.
+ RHP Nash Crafton
Big time projection to the 6-foot-4 frame with unique release traits that make him an intriguing follow. Worked 80-82 on a fastball that topped at 84 and plays from a 4'6" release with run and occasional carry. Sweeps the breaking ball in the mid-to-upper 60s, a big-shaped offering that needs to sharpen, also showed a low-70s change. The ability to get above bats from a low-slot is highly intriguing, certainly a name for me to circle back to in '26.
+ RHP Connor Buck
Highly intriuging spin traits here; into the 2600s on his slider (70-72 mph) and 2800+ on the CB (65-68). Ability to pitch backwards elevates a 78-82 mph fastball that reached 83 mph on his best bullet. Projection remains in the 6-foot, 150-pound frame with the ability to spin establishing a safe floor.
