Indiana Fall State Games: Unsigned Seniors

Cooper Trinkle
Indiana Scouting Director

The Indiana Fall State Games have come to a conclusion and brought nearly 200 uncommitted prospects from around the state to Championship Park. The bulk of this years' roster came from the uncommitted 2027-2028 crowd, however there was a solid group of unsigned seniors at the Fall State Games per usual. With recruiters on hand, as well as following our coverage from the comfort of their own home, we've seen a couple of these players already to start to make commitments, with more to come undoubtedly. Read below to find standouts and recent commitments from our 4th annual Fall State Games, with all of our post-event coverage hyperlinked below.

Unsigned Seniors

*listed alphabetically*

+ OF Connor Benson, Heritage Christian: 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame with proportional strength throughout. Left-handed hitter with a relaxed setup and low handset that climbs to launch, presents the barrel on vertical plane with ability to lift G2G. Some pull-side power (93 EV). Moves well for his build (7.02 60), and the athleticism helps the offensive profile play up from the left-side. Fringy arm strength (77 OF mph) limits the defensive ceiling, but the left-handed bat has a chance to carry the profile at the next level.

+ C Matthew Berry, Frankfort: Compact and strong 5-foot-9, 165-pound catcher with above-average tools across the board. Right-handed hitter with a balanced, even setup and a short, connected path that produces consistent barrel contact — advanced feel for the barrel stands out. Shows sneaky juice for the size with a peak exit velocity of 94 mph and ability to drive the baseball to both gaps. Defensively, he’s an above-average thrower (78 mph) with quick, efficient footwork and exchange — posted impressive 2.00–2.07 pop times. Solid mover behind the dish with athletic actions and leadership presence. A well-rounded backstop who plays with intent and has impact ability on both sides of the ball.

+ 3B Jack Bland, Avon: Athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pound left-handed hitting third baseman with some projection remaining, especially as he continues to add strength. Starts from a crouched setup with a connected handset and delivers a smooth, fluid stroke that already shows present power with more to come. Posted a 93 mph max exit velocity and drove balls up to 350 feet with ease. Defensively, he’s an above-average defender with confident, forward-moving actions and an arm that plays well across the diamond at 84 mph. A well-rounded prospect with polish in the box and tools that project for more impact as the frame matures.

+ SS Jayson Connor, Union City:  Wiry 6-foot, 170-pound shortstop who projects to stick at the position long term. Shows advanced defensive actions with quick, rhythmic feet that play on time and a sure-handed, aggressive approach to the baseball. The arm is a true plus tool at 92 mph across the diamond. Offensively, works from a balanced setup with a simple hand lift that syncs with the stride, producing a flat, fast-handed stroke that’s built for line drive contact. Posted an 89 mph max exit velocity and ran a 6.84 sixty.

+ OF Logan Dilley, Valparaiso:  Lean, 6-foot-2, 165-pound outfielder with standout athleticism and loud tools across the board. Dilley’s 6.65 sixty translates easily to the field, showing gliding movements and confident strides in the outfield with a loose, above-average arm that reaches 85 mph. Offensively, he hits from the right side with a short, direct stroke that delivers sneaky impact now and projects for more as he continues to fill out. Posted a 97 mph max exit velocity with an athletic, balanced operation that suggests future power upside.

+ OF Dallas Downey, South Bend Saint Joseph: Athletic, 6-foot, 160-pound outfielder with a smooth left-handed stroke and natural feel for the barrel. Downey hits from a tall setup with a loose, deep hand load that creates rhythm in the swing, working on a flatter path with adjustability and the ability to drive the ball to all fields. There’s some looseness and lag through the zone that projects for more juice as he adds strength, already showing 90 mph exit velocity and a 320-foot max distance. Solid athlete (7.11 sixty) who moves well in the outfield

+ LHP Jacob Erb, Homestead: Strong, durable 6-foot-3, 215-pound southpaw with a clean, efficient delivery and present pitchability. Erb works from a balanced lift into a simple, in-line move down the slope, allowing the loose, left-handed arm to work freely to a high slot. The fastball sits 81–83 mph (T84) with solid carry through the zone, playing up from a slightly lower release height. He shows a confident feel for spin, with a 68–71 mph slider that flashes sharpness and some ability to manipulate shape, tunneling well off the fastball. Mixed in a cutter at 77 mph that gives him another wrinkle to attack hitters.

+ OF Luke Goben, Andrean: Compact, athletic 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame with well-proportioned strength and quick-twitch athleticism. Goben shows a balanced, connected operation from the left side — short stride, tight hand load, and a fast, on-plane bat that consistently produces quality contact to all fields. There’s sneaky strength in the barrel with an 89 mph max exit velocity and 341-foot peak distance, pointing to gap-to-gap impact that should continue to tick up as he matures. A 6.85 runner whose speed plays even better in game — covering ground efficiently with clean routes and instincts in the outfield. Compact athlete with solid tools across the board and a confident left-handed stroke that should carry value moving forward.

+ SS Max Grundberg, Culver: One of the top performers at this event amongst the uncommitted '26 crowd. From the left side, he hits from a pre-coiled base with a short inward turn and heavier move forward, creating a clean, on-plane path with noticeable bat speed. The swing produces consistent line-drive contact with leverage to the pull side — reaching 97 mph exit velocity and 352 feet of carry, while also showing off those abilities during the gameplay portion of this event. A 7.01 runner who plays faster in-game, Grundberg brings polish and athleticism to both sides of the ball. 5-foot-10, 175-pound infielder with body control and steady presence on the dirt. Grundberg shows sure hands with proper footwork, pairing with an 85 mph arm across that shows abv-avg strength for the age.

+ 3B Zach Helton, Charlestown:  Long and projectable at 6-foot-2, 165 pounds, Helton brings an intriguing blend of athleticism and projection to the hot corner. The right-handed hitter starts tall with a natural, easy operation that still has some rawness, but the hand speed stands out — producing hard line-drive contact on a flatter path. There’s bat strength already in place, reaching 90 mph exit velocity, and more power is likely as the frame continues to fill out. A 6.7 runner, Helton’s run tool adds another layer of intrigue and gives him athletic upside to move across the dirt or to the outfield. Defensively, he shows fundamental, easy-effort actions with a 79 mph arm across.

+ LHP Palmer Jones, Yorktown: Long-limbed and projectable at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, Palmer Jones offers plenty to dream on from the left side. Working exclusively from the stretch, Jones features a taller lift with an in-line stride, creating a clean and repeatable operation. The arm works long and loose with some quickness out front, producing a fastball at 79–81 mph (T81) that shows carry through the zone along with arm-side run. The breaking stuff flashes promise — a 65–68 mph curveball with gradual 11/5 shape and two-plane depth, complemented by a shorter, sweeping slider in the upper 60s. He rounds out the mix with a firm 75–78 mph changeup that mirrors his fastball shape well. With plenty of physical projection remaining and an already clean delivery, Jones profiles as a left-hander whose stuff could take a big jump as strength and maturity come.

+ UTL Zayne Newgent, McCutcheon: Zayne Newgent, an athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound utility-type prospect from McCutcheon, shows a balanced all-around game with some twitch in the frame. Offensively, he hits from a tall, athletic setup with minimal hand movement and a short, well-controlled forward move, allowing his quick hands to work through the zone with consistency. The swing produces quality contact and sneaky impact for his size, reaching a 95 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, Newgent shows average actions across multiple spots — capable of handling both the outfield and infield — with arm strength that currently grades as fringy but serviceable (75 INF / 77 OF).

+ MIF Blake Riggs, Noblesville: Athletic look to the 6-foot, 155-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder. Sets up in a slightly open stance before making a short stride/load that lands him in a good position to hit. Quick bat delivered on a shorter path with developing barrel strength. Contact skills are evident and his game gets elevated by solid average foot speed that plays higher between the lines than his 7.1 60 shows. Easy effort actions on the dirt with feet playing on time and hands looking very sure. Polished look on both sides with physical jumps likely to explode his game.

+ RHP Brooks Riggs, Noblesville: At 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, Brooks Riggs brings an athletic, projectable look to the mound and pairs it with a clean, efficient delivery that promises upside. The Noblesville right-hander works with an up-tempo, inward turn lift before uncoiling down the slope, allowing the arm to work loose and easy through his H 3/4 release. His fastball sat 82–83 mph (T83) with carry and feel for the zone, complemented by a sharper 11/5-shaped curveball at 70–72 mph that spun north of 2200 and flashed as a future swing-and-miss pitch. He mixed in a single changeup at 75 mph, as well, hinting at the ability to compete with 3. With athletic movement patterns and room to add strength, Riggs looks poised for velocity gains and continued polish as he trends upward.

+ OF Nate Risley, Perry Meridian: Athletic OF at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds. Brings a quality offensive profile with a short, adjustable, right-handed swing that produced 92+ exits (97 in the summer) and is elevated by a sub-7 60-time. Has a chance to stick in CF at the next level.

+ OF Dylan Thompson, Warren Central: Thompson stands out immediately with a long, athletic 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame that projects for significant future strength. A smooth, easy mover in the outfield, he profiles best in a corner spot where his athleticism and frame should allow the bat to carry the profile. The left-handed hitter sets up balanced with a simple, connected operation—short load and stride working in sync to create separation and leverage. The swing works uphill with some natural loft, producing gap-to-gap power that should continue to grow as he fills out. Posted a 93 mph max exit velocity with more in the tank. 7.08 runner in the 60.
