Prep Baseball KC World Series

The World Series took place in Kansas City from July 24th through July 27th and brought the summer to a close. The four day, four game guarentee tournament brought us some of the most compettive matchups we have seen. Lets relive the championship games from 14u though 17/18u.

14U Championship

The 14U World Series Championship game featured the Colorado Rough Riders and Barrel Strawberry National in a thrilling back-and-forth battle.

The scoring opened in the top of the second when Barrel Strawberry’s David Ferreira came home on a wild pitch. The Rough Riders answered in the bottom of the fourth as Joe Benallo stole home to tie the game. Barrel Strawberry quickly regained the lead in the fifth on an RBI fielder’s choice from Myles McCray, but the Rough Riders responded again when Brennen Reiser singled in a run to make it 2-2.

In the top of the seventh, Anthony Hann delivered a clutch RBI single to left, putting Barrel Strawberry back in front. Ringo Ross in his second inning of work shut the door, securing a 3-2 championship victory for Barrel Strawberry National.

15U Championship

The 15U World Series Championship game featured Inevitable A’s 15U National and Top Tier Select in a battle packed with early offense and big moments.

The A’s jumped out fast, scoring three in the first inning — a sac fly from Cooper Wagner brought in Memphis Mooneyham, followed by an RBI groundout from Jackson Leonard, and another run that scored on an error to make it 3-0.

Top Tier answered right away in the bottom half with a solo home run from Andrew Polhemus, then chipped away again in the second on a sac fly from CJ Nelson. In the third, Slade Hodges tied the game at three with another sac fly.

The A’s took control in the fourth when Cameron Henderson delivered a clutch two-RBI single to put them back on top. Jackson Leonard added insurance with a solo home run in the fifth, and Cade Rogers followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-3 — a score that would hold as the final.

The Inevitable A’s 15U National captured the 16U World Series Championship, capping off an impressive weekend performance.

SBA got off to a fast start, putting up two runs in the top of the first, highlighted by an RBI double from Mikey Groesch. BC answered in the bottom half, tying it with a double from Jett Wood and a sac fly by Parker Jenkins.

In the third, SBA jumped ahead again with two more runs, one scoring on an error and the other on a double from Karter Marks. BC responded in a huge way with a six-run inning on six hits, including a three-RBI triple from Jett Wood.

Wood wasn’t done — in the next inning he singled in two more runs, followed by a double from Parker Jenkins to extend BC’s lead to seven. SBA tried to rally, scoring on a sac fly from Austin Rutter and another double from Karter Marks, but BC kept the pressure with three straight extra-base hits to start the bottom of the fifth. 17/18U Championship

The 17/18U Championship featured a clash of local powerhouses as Building Champions 17U National faced Prime 27:17 National. This matchup showcased some of the most talented rosters we’ve seen locally all year, including two Prep Baseball All-Americans and multiple D1 commits.

Prime drew first blood, scoring on a wild pitch followed by an RBI single from Manny Myers. They added to their lead in the second inning with an RBI single from Nash Kindler and two more runs on errors, jumping out to an early 6-run advantage. BC responded in the bottom of the second with a run scored on a balk, but Prime tacked on a seventh run on a passed ball. Carson May added an RBI sac fly in the fourth, and an error scoring Myers in the fifth extended Prime’s lead to eight.

BC mounted a comeback in the fifth when Henry Goodwin delivered a two-RBI double, cutting the deficit to six. Milo Burton followed in the sixth with an RBI single. In the seventh, BC threatened with bases loaded and a sac fly from Goodwin, but that was as close as they would get. Mac Solis shut the door, securing the final outs and giving Prime 27:17 National a 9-5 victory.
