With 2021 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best 2022 high school coverage that can be found anywhere. Starting in January, we began releasing team previews for squads across the state. Ahead, we will have Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings coming your way.

2022 Spring Team Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers

Team Name: Chardon Hilltoppers
Head Coach: Brian Long
Division: I
2021 Record: 19-11
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/3

2022 Team Strengths:

  • Leadership - Our baseball program is fortunate enough to have a lot of football players on our roster. With the back to back state championship teams from our football program, we believe a lot of our team has the knowledge and experience of what it takes to be a championship type program.
  • Pitching - We are returning three pitchers that made big contributions to the 2021 season. We feel confident in all three arms to go out and win a game. Pitching and defense wins championships and that mindset from our players will keep us focused on the importance every pitch.
  • Defense - We have some great athletes on our defense that can play a variety of positions. This will help us move players around and evaluate by playoffs on what our best line-up will be going into the postseason.

Coach Outlook: "I believe we have the ability to be one of the top D2 teams in Northeast Ohio. We return seven starters from last years district runner-up team lead by Heath Fetchik, Trey Liebhardt, Kyle Maronde, Christian Hall, Rocco Perrico and Nolan Kirsh. Three of our top five arms will be returning in 2022 lead by Kyle Maronde, Nolan Kirsh and Christian Hall. Our pitching and defense will keep us in games. If our offense can score runs, we should be a very competitive ball club."

  • Heath Fetchik, C/INF, 2023, 6-0/205, R/R. 2 year starter. .260, 5 2B, 11 RBI, 13 R
