Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2026 Diamond Notes (Week 5)

The Prep Baseball Louisiana Diamond Notes serves as an opportunity for our staff to highlight players, from across the state, that put up impressive performances on a given week, yet fell short of our Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week honors.

Pitcher of the Week (Week 5)

Alex Richardson RHP / SS / Belle Chasse, LA / 2026

Richardson has been on the short list for Pitcher of the Week honors multiple times this spring, so it came as no surprise that the Southern Miss recruit finally secured the award in Week 5 after another dominant stretch on both sides of the ball.

He first made his impact last Tuesday against Willow, entering in relief to lock down the final inning and earn the save, allowing no hits or walks while striking out all three batters he faced. Richardson then returned on Thursday in a starting role against the same opponent and delivered a statement outing, tossing 6 shutout innings while giving up just 4 hits with no walks and 13 strikeouts to pick up the win.

As impressive as his work was on the mound, Richardson also provided significant offensive production. He finished the week hitting .538 with a home run, two doubles, and five RBI, underscoring his value as a true two-way contributor and one of the most impactful performers in the state this spring.

 

 

Player of the Week (Week 5)

John Parker Trahan 3B / 2B / Opelousas Catholic, LA / 2026

Opelousas Catholic turned in a perfect 4-0 week, erupting for 31 total runs, and senior John Parker Trahan was at the center of the offensive surge. The uncommitted senior set the tone early with a 2-for-6 effort against Rayne, highlighted by a game-winning RBI double in the 14th inning.

He followed that up with another strong showing against Tioga, going 2-for-3 with a home run and a double, before delivering his most dominant performance of the week in a win over Dunham. In that contest, Trahan went a perfect 4-for-4 with 4 RBI, finishing just a triple shy of the cycle. He capped off his standout week with a 1-for-3 performance against Notre Dame, launching another home run and driving in two more runs.

All told, Trahan finished the week 9-for-16 (.563) with 3 home runs, 4 doubles, 8 RBI, and 7 runs scored, playing a pivotal role in the Vikings’ undefeated stretch last week and continuing to elevate his offensive profile as the season progresses.

 

 

Other Notable Performances (Week 5)

Owen Nugent RHP / 3B / Archbishop Rummel, LA / 2027

The uncommitted junior tossed 8 shutout innings last week to earn the win against John Curtis Christian and also came through with the game-winning RBI single against the Patriots.

Mills Richardson RHP / 2B / Catholic BR, LA / 2026

The former Future Gamer and Southeastern Louisiana recruit threw 8 total innings last week and allowed only 1 earned run with 0 walks and 10 strikeouts. 

Miller Sheets SS / Sterlington, LA / 2026

The former Future Gamer and Baylor recruit went 4-for-12 (.333) with 2 home runs, 1 double, 5 runs batted in, and 5 runs scored for the Panthers last week.

Alex Scheuermann LHP / OF / St. Martin's, LA / 2026

The Loyola-New Orleans recruit went 4-for-6 with 2 triples, 3 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored last week. He also drew 3 walks and stole 2 bases across two games.

Bradyn Cupit LHP / West Monroe, LA / 2026

The LSU recruit was stellar against Alexandria Senior High last week. Cupit tossed a complete-game shutout and allowed only 2 hits with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts.

Corey Bourgeois 3B / RHP / Vandebilt Catholic, LA / 2028

Bourgeois hit at a .455 clip last week with 1 double, 5 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored for the Terriers.

Krash Menard 2B / C / Vandebilt Catholic, LA / 2028

Menard finished last week with a .625 average and .733 on-base percentage. He tallied 6 runs batted in and scored another 8 runs in the Terriers four games.

Jonas Bergeron OF / C / Vandebilt Catholic, LA / 2026

Bergeron hit .571 last week with a .750 on-base percentage. He connected for 2 doubles, 3 runs batted in, and 6 runs scored.

Peyton Vizena RHP / C / St. Edmund Catholic, LA / 2026

Vizena earned the win against Pine Prairie last week. after tossing a complete-game allowing 0 earned runs with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts.

Lannie Reed OF / St. Edmund Catholic, LA / 2026

Reed went 5-for-8 (.625) and got on-base at a .750 clip last week. He hit 1 triple with 2 runs batted in, 3 runs scored, and also stole 4 bases.

Rahim Alem OF / 3B / Westgate, LA / 2028

Alem hit at a .750 clip last week for the Tigers with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 3 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored.

Drew Barrow 3B / OF / South Beauregard, LA / 2029

Barrow hit at a .667 clip last week with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 3 runs batted in, and 3 runs scored. He also earned a win on the mound and a save with 4 shutout innings and 4 strikeouts.

Max Smith C / 3B / St. Edmund Catholic, LA / 2028

Smith went 4-for-7 (.571) with a .600 on-base percentage, and connected for 1 home run, 2 doubles, and drove in 5 runs.

Carter Wilson LHP / OF / Sulphur, LA / 2026

The former Senior Future Gamer and McNeese State recruit threw 7 innings last week and allowed only 1 run on 3 hits with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts.

Kannon Templet SS / RHP / Southside, LA / 2026

The Coastal Alabama-North Community College recruit went 3-for-10 lastr wekk with a home run and a double. Templet also tossed a complete-game allowing only 3 earned runs to earn the win against Sulphur last Tuesday.

Connor Poirrier C / Southside, LA / 2026

The senior backstop went 3-for-7 with a double and 2 runs batted in for the Sharks as they opened up district play against Sulphur and Sam Houston.

Jordan Reynolds SS / 2B / Vandebilt Catholic, LA / 2029

Reynolds finished last week with a .462 average and .563 on-base percentage in the Terriers four games. He drove in 5 runs, scored 4, and swiped 6 bases on the week.

Landen Gibson OF / Southside, LA / 2026

Gibson went 2-for-6 with 1 run batted in at the plate last week. He also threw 7 shutout innings against defending State Champion Sam Houston and surrendered only 4 hits with 6 strikeouts.

Myles Jones OF / New Iberia Senior High, LA / 2026

Jones went 5-for-11 (.455) with 1 home run, 2 doubles, 4 runs batted in, and 3 runs scored for the Yellow Jackets last week.

Harrison Kidder OF / Catholic BR, LA / 2026

The Louisiana-Lafayette football recruit went 10-for-13 (.769) with 2 home runs, 5 runs batted in, and 3 runs scored for the Bears last week.

Brock Blessington RHP / OF / Sam Houston, LA / 2028

The state's top ranked sophomore went 5-for-10 (.500) at the plate last week with a home run, double, and 4 runs batted in. Blessington also picked up his first district win on the mound with a complete-game effort against Southside with 7 strikeouts.

Clay Aguillard 1B / RHP / St. Edmund Catholic, LA / 2026

Aguillard earned the win against Jena after tossing a complete-game allowing 4 runs on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts. He also went 4-for-10 (.400) at the plate with a home run, 1 double, and 2 runs batted in.

Paxon Myers LHP / OF / St. Edmund Catholic, LA / 2028

Myers went 3-for-9 (.333) at the plate with 3 runs batted in, 1 run scored, and 1 stolen base. The sophomore southpaw also earned the win against Bunkie after tossing 6 innings and allowing 3 runs with 6 strikeouts.

Quinn Fiasconaro OF / Sam Houston, LA / 2028

Fiasconaro went 2-for-6 (.333) with 2 home runs, 5 runs batted in, 3 runs scored, and also drew 3 walks in the Broncos three games last week.

Christian Ashworth OF / North DeSoto, LA / 2028

Ashworth went 3-for-6 (.500) with a home run, double, 3 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored in the Griffins three games last week.

Kingston Adams C / 3B / Loyola College Prep, LA / 2028

The former Jr. Future Gamer went 5-for-13 with a home run, triple, 2 runs batted in, 6 runs scored, and also stole 5 bases for the Flyers last week.

Luca Golden SS / 2B / Loyola College Prep, LA / 2028

Golden earned the win on the mound last week against St .Mary's after throwing 6 innings allowing 2 earned runs with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts. He also went 6-for-13 at the plate with 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 runs scored.

Grayson Minnis OF / 2B / Loyola College Prep, LA / 2028

Minnis went 6-for-15 with 2 runs batted in, 4 runs scored, and also swiped 2 bases last week for the Flyers.

Caden Pryor OF / RHP / Loyola College Prep, LA / 2028

Pryor went 6-for-12 with 3 runs batted in, 4 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases in the Flyers four games last week.

Jacob Neely RHP / Northshore, LA / 2026

The Centenary College recruit tossed a complete-game no-hitter against Destrehan last Friday with 3 walks and 10 strikeouts on 103 pitches (63 strikes | 40 balls).

Kaden Croft RHP / Mandeville, LA / 2028

The sophomore right-hander earned the win in relief for Mandeville last Thursday against then undefeated Catholic BR. Croft threw 5.2 scoreless innings and allowed only 5 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.

Kaylor Broussard SS / Iota, LA / 2027

The junior two-way tossed a complete-game shutout vs. Oakdale with 7 strikeouts last week.

Braxton Meagher LHP / UTL / Iota, LA / 2028

Meagher hit at a .600 clip last week for Iota with a .714 on-base percentage and drove in 1 run with 2 walks.

Lance Miller RHP / Iota, LA / 2027

The junior right-hander picked up a win against Pine last week after tossing 6 innings and allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts.

Hudson Daigle OF / Iota, LA / 2028

Daigle got on-base at a .625 clip last week witha double, 4 runs batted in, 2 runs scored, and also stole 1 base.
