Westin McDaniel, an intriguing young arm for Lake Travis, went 2.2 innings and struck out 5 in his outing. His fastball ranged from 85-88 mph, topping out at 89 mph, and he mixed in a breaking ball at 75 mph and a changeup at 75 mph. McDaniel gave up some hard contact after falling behind hitters but showed promise with his ability to generate whiffs. The breaking ball has the potential to be a real out pitch, and his fastball velocity should continue to increase as he develops. With a good frame, McDaniel should be able to remain a starter as he progresses.
