2026 Spring Team Preview: Noble & Greenough (MA)

DEDHAM, Ma. - “It was a great year,” Paul Everett said of his first season as head coach of Noble & Greenough.

A 14-3 season ended with a loss in the first game of the playoffs against “a hot pitcher (Player of the Year in the league) who shut us down.”

Everett expects the Bulldogs to have a number of hot pitchers of his own in 2026 with two standouts leading the way, Luke Leger and Cole Henebry. The fifth-rated junior left-handed pitcher in New England, Leger was 5-0 with two saves a year ago, striking out 44 in 30 innings while compiling a 0.90 ERA and 0.80 WHIP. Henebry will join the Rutgers commit in forming a one-two punch for N&G. The 10th-ranked 2027 RHP in Massachusetts was 4-1 with a 2.40 ERA last season, fanning 35 in 30 frames with a 0.90 WHIP.

Four sophomores are also being counted on to provide innings in southpaw Kasen Walsh and right-handers Fletcher Parkinson, Luke Grossman and Will Lavell, the 27th-rated 2028 RHP in Massachusetts.

Jack Bisson, the third-ranked freshman right-handed pitcher in Massachusetts, brings more promise to the mound.

“We had a great staff last year and we bring that back,” Everett noted. “We had great defense and we bring that back. This year it’s about who comes up with the big hit.”

Mac Bianchi, the fourth-rated senior shortstop in New England, hit .410 last season while committing just three errors will anchor the infield this year. The left-handed hitting Harvard commit, a team captain called “the best shortstop in the league” by Everett, will be joined up the middle by second baseman Tak Matsuzaka, a senior who will bat near the top of the order.

Grossman and Parkinson will compete for time at first base with Lavell, a left-handed hitter who can also play short and second, at third base. Henebry, another team captain, will also play third coming off a .320 season at the plate.

Two freshmen, Duggan Woolley and Trevor Hirsch, are battling for time behind the plate with Leger in center and Walsh in right. Declan Burke and Bisson are other outfielders for the Bulldogs. Leger, a candidate for MVP in the league last season, is a left-handed stick who averaged .370 and will bat first or second while Burke is the fourth-ranked 2029 outfielder in New England.

“We’ll definitely be tough,” Everett said. “We have some really great leaders. When you have leaders like Mac, Leger and Henebry, you feel really good as a coach.”

One senior who is out with an injury and will likely miss the season is Leo Meuse, the 20th-ranked 2026 RHP in New England, a Stevens Institute of Technology signee.

“The keys are if Mac does his thing, Woolley and Hirsch step up to be good catchers and Cole and Luke pitch well,” Everett explained. “Those three things must happen. If those things fall short, it will be tough to make a run like last year.”

Everett is hoping good results fall into place like a year ago.

“It’s about all one through 20 on the team being loose,” Everett noted. “We want to give guys all the confidence in the world to make sure they know they’re driving the ship. Every time there’s adversity it’s just an opportunity for success.”

But with nine seniors lost to graduation, the fifth-year mentor at Nobles understands success is not a given.

“The coaches have to get the guys into the system,” Everett said of leading a youthful squad. “That makes for a little challenge but it’s exciting. It’s a great opportunity to see what we have. The future is bright.”
