JL Mann 1 TL Hanna 0
Under the lights in a big matchup, JL Mann and TL Hanna went toe-to-toe in a classic pitchers' duel. With both teams battling for position in a tight playoff race, the intensity was felt from the very first pitch. A packed crowd filled the stands, ready for a showdown between two programs with postseason aspirations on the line.
Pitching was the story all night, as both staffs were locked in—pounding the zone, changing speeds, and keeping hitters off balance. Every at-bat was a grind, with defensive units making key plays to back up their arms. Underclassmen rose to the occasion under pressure, while veteran pitchers led with command and composure.
From start to finish, this matchup was a display of grit, sharp execution, and high-level baseball.
Check out the notes and video highlights below for a breakdown of the standout performers in this intense battle!
Josh Carlson RHP JL Mann HS 2026
Carlson has taken the Friday night starter spot for the Patriots and ran with it the past few weeks. He threw his 4th straight complete game shutout in a big region win over TL Hanna 1-0. He topped out at 80 with the fastball and lived in the upper 70's. He mixed a curveball at 70-72 and one of the better changeups I have seen all season from 68-72. He used all three pitches in any situation and worked ahead of hitters all night. He kept hitters off balance and got swing and miss with the breaking ball and changeup and racked up 8 K's while only walking one. The fastball velocity may not be impressive but Carlson makes up for it with his pitchability and competitiveness on the mound. If he can continue to locate all three pitches, I expect him to win plenty more games on the mound in the future.

Cruising through 3 innings so far. Mixing all 3 pitches and getting soft contact. Doing a good job holding down a good offense. #PBSCisThere pic.twitter.com/kvXIk4pbcn
