As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Hit Tool Class of 2027

Lubin Rincon SS / 3B / Shadow Creek, TX / 2027

Rincon, the No. 8 nationally ranked player in the 2027 class, was one of the most exciting prospects we saw in 2025. The recently committed Texas Longhorn has a professional shortstop frame at 6-foot-2, 177 pounds, with plenty of room to fill out and add strength and power. Rincon helped lead the Houston Wildcatters on an impressive run at the Midwest Premier Super 16, setting the tone out of the two-hole.

A patient left-handed bat, Rincon looks to get on base any way he can while also possessing the pop to do real damage with runners ahead of him. During his time in Kansas City, he was on fire, going 10-for-16 (.625), impacting the game in multiple ways by driving the gaps, taking singles, and flashing the ability to drag bunt to take advantage of his speed. Rincon is one of the most skilled players we saw this year, and we can’t wait to see what he becomes over the next few seasons.
