2025 Indiana Player of the Week : April 5 - April 12

Each week during the spring, our staff tabs a 'Player of the Week'. We rely heavily on coaches' submissions for this award, so it is imperative that coaches respond to our submission email each week in order to give our staff the ability to give recognition to players that are deserving. Each week, coaches can submit their candidates to [email protected].
Baseball is finally back in full swing and several teams across the state got their season underway last week. Without further ado, find our Player of the Week for the opening week of the spring, along with a group of honorable mentions.

Anthony Suscha C / OF / Brebeuf Jesuit Prep, IN / 2025+ Suscha had a huge week for the Braves and has begun his senior season on a hot streak. The Trinity University (TX) recruit went 9-for-14 at the plate, including (7) extra-base hits - (3) HR and (4) 2B. In just (4) games, Suscha accounted for (6) runs scored and (10) total RBI out of the Brebeuf 3-hole. For good measure, Suscha also collected the game-winning hit for Brebeuf against 3A rival #6 Cathedral in the bottom of the 7th during a back-and-forth Friday night matchup under the lights.

Honorable Mentions
Peyton Gray, SS/RHP, Heritage Hills, 2026
+ Heritage Hills kicked off their season with a 3-0 week, due in large part to a big week from Western Kentucky commit, Peyton Gray. Gray went 6-for-8 at the plate with (2) HR, (7) RBI, and (7) runs scored. Gray also added (3) stolen bases, reached base at a .846 clip, and also threw 2 scoreless frames on the bump - where he recorded (4) strikeouts.
Collin Osenbaugh, SS/RHP, Shenandoah, 2025
+ Osenbaugh led Shenandoah to an undefeated week that featured standout performances from the Louisvile recruit on both sides of the ball. At the plate, he went 10-for-15 (.667) w (4) triples, a HR, and (10) runs driven in - while also scoring (10) himself. He also earned a win in his start on the mound in dominant fashion - 5 IP, 10 K, 1 ER, 3 H.
Cole Cheatham, RHP, Union County, 2027
+ Cheatham's statline on the mound for last week is as follows : 8.2 IP, 25! strikeouts, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB. All but one (25/26) of the outs he recorded last week were via the strikeout...
He also went 9-for-14 at the plate with (2) 2B, a 3B, a HR, (7) runs scored, and (6) RBI. The state's No. 1 ranked sophomore arm is off to a great start for Union County thus far.
Cooper Safford, 1B, Greenfield-Central, 2027
+ Safford was a doubles machine last week, collecting (5) in total. Safford was 7-for-8 in total on the week, also added (4) RBI and (4) runs scored as Greenfield-Central took wins over Wapahani and New Castle (2x).
Gavin Lykins, RHP/1B, Plainfield, 2026
+ Lykins had a busy week for Plainfield splitting duties as the ace of the staff and middle-of-the-order hitter. His complete game, no-hitter vs Franklin Community featured (12) strikeouts, and he was just (1) walk away from a perfect game. The talented, uncommitted junior also went 4-for-12 (.333) at the dish with a 2B, HR, and (5) runs scored.
+ Rodman swung a hot bat for the Panthers this week, collecting (8) hits in (16) at-bats for a .500 average for the week. The Western backstop added (3) doubles, (2) HR, and (10) RBI, along with providing (3) innings of 1-run baseball in a stint on the mound.
+ The LSU recruit was all over the barrel for the #2 Kingsmen this week - helping them to a pair of series sweeps. Braun hit .800 for the week (8-for-10), including a 2B, a HR, (6) RBI, and a stolen base, as well.
Zander Keith, C/RHP, Borden, 2025
+ Keith is a key cog for 1A #8 Borden - and had a big performance on the mound this week. He threw a run-rule shortened, perfect game with (12) strikeouts in (5) innings of work. He was also 4-for-5 at the plate, including a 2B, HR, (3) RBI, (4) runs scored, and (5) SB as the Braves went 3-0 for the week.
Jackson Wagner, C, Brownsburg, 2025
+ Wagner had an excellent week to lead the Brownsburg offense. The Wabash Valley recruit went 10-for-15 (.667) with (3) doubles and (4) RBI. He reached base at a .714 clip, helping Brownsburg to an undefeated week including a conference series sweep.
Jaden Norris, RHP/3B, Sullivan, 2026
+ The uncommitted junior followed a big opening week with a strong Week #2. He earned the win in his start, working (7) innings with (12) strikeouts. He also went 5-for-8 with (2) HR, (5) RBI, and (5) runs scored at the plate.
Braden Richey, RHP, Seymour, 2025
+ The Anderson recruit racked up strikeouts in bunches this week, totaling (20) strikeouts across two starts. Richey threw (12) innings, allowing just (4) walks and (1) earned run.
Joe Washburn, SS, St. Joseph, 2025
+ The Creighton recruit had a big week for St. Joe as they continue to climb our 3A polls. The most impressive stat he recorded was a perfect 9-for-9 on stolen bases in just (3) games played. He also went 5-for-9 at the plate (.556), scoring (7) runs from the top of the St. Joe lineup.
Jase Horton, C/DH, Crown Point, 2025
+ Crown Point is rolling in the first-half of the season and continues to climb our 4A polls. Senior Jase Horton was a key cog in the middle of that order this week, going 10-for-15 (.667) with (3) doubles. Horton added a staggering (13) RBI's, as well, warranting honorable mention honors.
Levi Lester, INF, Barr-Reeve, 2026
+ The uncommitted infielder helped Barr-Reeve to an undefeated week that included a big win over 4A Evansville North. Lester went 9-for-13, including (3) 2B, a HR, (4) RBI, and (4) runs scored.
Jack Whaley, INF, Columbus North, 2028
+ The Columbus North freshman is off to a blazing start to his high school career. During his second week of the spring, Whaley added (2) more HR (1 during Week 1) - currently holding at least a share of the lead for 4A HR at this point with (3) in just (5) games. Whaley also added a triple, (5) runs scored, and (6) RBI while collecting (4) hits in total for the week.
Ryan Murphy, LHP, Brownsburg, 2026
+ The Creighton recruit went 2-0 on the hill for Brownsburg this week as they continue to climb the 4A polls. He got the win versus Tri-West, recording all (9) outs via the strikeout in 3 IP. He returned to the hill versus HSE to help the Bulldogs to an HCC sweep in their opening series, tossing (5.2) IP and allowing (0) ER or hits, striking out (11). In total, the Future Gamer from 2024 posted the following statline during Week #2 : 8.2 IP, 20 K, 2 H, with 0 ER.
Eli Hulzebos, RHP, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, 2027
+ The sophomore righty led Chatard to a win in both of his starts on the mound this week. In total, Hulzebos worked (11) innings pitched, stuck out (13), and allowed just (4) walks and (1) earned run.
Toby Savini, SS, Cascade, 2026
+ Savini helped the Cadets to a 2-1 win start last week. Out of the leadoff spot, the junior SS went 8-for-11 (.727), including (2) doubles, (1) triple, (6) RBI, and (4) stolen bases.
Tyler Pirowski, OF, Portage, 2026
+ Portage is off to a perfect 6-0 record and Pirowski's hot start is one reason why. Tyler went 9-for-17 last week, including (2) doubles, (8) RBI, (7) runs scored, and he also added (8) stolen bases as well.
Braylon Kovas, SS/RHP, Springs Valley, 2026
+ Kovas is off to a great start to his junior year for Springs Valley. Last week, he collected (7) hits en route to a (.636) average for the week, including (3) doubles and (7) runs scored. The two-way performer also added (4.2) IP, striking out (9) - allowing just (1) hit and (0) runs.
+ Vince went 6-for-6 with (2) doubles, (6) runs scored, (5) RBIs, (3) stolen bases, and (2) walks across a pair of wins last week. The sophomore outfielder reached base in all 8 plate appearances.
Rigg Mahurin, OF/LHP, New Palestine, 2027
+ Mahurin helped the Dragons to a conference split vs Shelbyville, along with a nice 3A win vs Batesville, with quality stats on both sides. The Olney Central commit went 7-for-11 with (2) doubles, and a pair of RBI and runs. He also added (8) punchouts in (4.2) innings of work on the mound.
Chrystan McNeal, C, Pike, 2025
+ McNeal continues to produce at a high level for the Red Devils with another strong week. Last week, he went 8-for-13 with (8) runs scored, (3) doubles, and (4) stolen bases.
Zaire McKinney, OF, Michigan City, 2026
+ The uncommitted outfielder collected (6) hits on the week for a (.462) average from 4/5-4/12. He also added (6) RBI and (9) runs scored, but his most impressive stat on the week was that he went 12-for-12 on stolen base attempts.
Jake Winger, INF, McCutcheon, 2026
+ The Indiana recruit is picking right back up where he left as a sophomore after being named to the 4A 1st Team All-State last season. To begin his junior year, Winger went 7-for-9 with a 2B, a 3B, and (7) runs scored.
Bryce Haney, LHP/OF, Triton Central, 2025
+ Haney had a strong week for Triton Central on both sides. He threw (6) scoreless innings with (10) strikeouts to earn the win in his start, while he also produced a (.714) batting average offensively, collecting (10) hits - including (2) HR, and (8) RBI.
Grant Delaney, 2B, Harrison, 2026
+ Harrison went 3-1 on the week and Delaney had a big hand in the offensive production. He went 10-for-14, including a 2B, a HR, (4) RBI, (4) runs scored, and (5) stolen bases as well.
Henry Boyce, SS/RHP, Covenant Christian, 2026
+ Boyce had a big week on both sides fro Covenant. At the dish, Boyce went 8-for-11 with (2) 2B, a 3B, (5) RBI, and (7) stolen bases. He also added (6.2) scoreless innings of work on the mound, including a save, across two appearances.
Collin Otto, P, Eastern, 2025
+ Otto went (2-0) last week for Eastern, striking out (20) batters in (10) innings of work. He didn't allow a single earned run last week, with only 9 hitters reaching base in total (3 hits, 6 walks).
Zeke Seng, RHP, Charlestown, 2027
+ Charlestown is off to a great start and Seng's pitching is a big part of that start. The sophomore tallied (10.1) scoreless innings on the bump last week, featuring (18) strikeouts. He allowed just (3) hits, and did not walk a batter.
