Updated Class of 2023 Player Rankings (April)
2021 brought back high school baseball in the state of Michigan where four schools were crowned champions. The state of Michigan has become a hotbed of talent throughout the country placing numerous players at various levels into colleges as well as multiple draft picks. As we close out the summer and move into fall baseball as well as other fall sports we had the opportunity to see hundreds of prospects throughout the summer and present our updated class rankings.
Many names came off the board to some of the top programs around the nation, many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene, and many prospects improved their game.
That being said, we have had the pleasure of seeing a number of solid players this past year. Prospects are popping up left and right, making velocity jumps, improving 60-yard dash times and showing more power with the bat.
Below we will take a look at "What's New at the Top", “Cracks The Top Ten", "The Risers”, "The Gamers", "The Sleepers", "Don't sleep on these arms”, and some of the top uncommitted prospects by position.

What’s New At The Top

Parker Picot SS / OF / Rochester Adams, MI / 2023Report: The names stay the same in the top ten of the 2023 class, but there is some movement as Parker Picot climbs up to the number 2 spot. An explosive athlete, Picot can do it all on the diamond. Athleticism is on display with his 6.54 60 time and strong arm. Threw 88 from the infield and 91 from the outfield at ProCase this winter and has an upper 80’s fastball on the mound. The Alabama commit put on a show during BP at ProCase showing off his power with a 101 mph exit velocity. Athletic prowess extends beyond the baseball field as he led his high school football team to a state finals appearance as the starting quarterback. |

Luke Coll RHP / 3B / New Boston Huron, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 6
Report: RHP Luke Coll is a big riser in the rankings jumping into the top 20. 6-foot-2, 185 pound prospect with an athletic and projectable frame. Turned in an impressive performance on the mound at ProCase. Fastball was up to 93 with a spin rate up to 2900. Slider was tight breaking with spin rates up to 2950. Intriguing arm to watch this spring. |

Gavin DeVooght RHP / 1B / Walled Lake Central, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 23 / POS: 8
Report: RHP Gavin Devooght continues to move up the rankings checking in at 23. 6-foot-4, 225 pound prospect with a strong build that works downhill from a high 3/4 arm angle on the mound. Fastball was up to 90 mph at ProCase. Big time curve ball produces swing and miss with spin rates in the 2400’s. |

Jaxon Huffman RHP / 3B / Mona Shores, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 13
Report: RHP Jaxon Huffman climbs up to 34 in the rankings and is an arm to watch on the west side of Michigan. Strong physical frame at 6-foot-1, 205. Arm is loose and quick on the mound. Fastball was up to 92 at Western Michigan Preseason All State, sitting 90-92. 4 pitch mix on the mound with a sharp curveball. Flashed a slider and changeup. |

Nathan Ball 1B / RHP / Bay City John Glenn, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 26 / POS: 1
Report: 1B Nathan Ball is a corner infield prospect who crushes balls at the plate. Top ranked uncommitted hitter in his class. 93 mph exit velocity and hit multiple balls over 340 feet at Future Games last year and followed it up with multiple hits in game. Looks poised for a big season at the plate after coming into his own there in 2021. Also is able to get on the mound and show a 3 pitch combination running his fastball up into the mid 80’s. |

Sebastian Jaimes C / 3B / Western international, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 32 / POS: 4
Report: 3B/C Sebastian Jaimes is a sure hand prospect that is a standout at 3B and behind the dish. Shows good footwork on the infield and a 1.92- 2.00 pop time behind the plate with a clean transfer and accurate arm. At the plate has a 96 mph exit velocity and consistently puts together quality at bats. Gamer ability was on display at Future Games where he made just 1 out hitting in the middle of the lineup. Can also get on the mound where he has a mid 80’s fastball. |

Wells Graham SS / RHP / Grosse Pointe South, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 47 / POS: 9
Report: SS/RHP Wells Graham fits the label gamer. Smooth fielder defensively in the middle infield and runs well posting a 6.78 60 time. Line drive hitter at the plate that has shown some power posting an 88 mph exit velocity. On the mound has a low 80’s fastball with a spin rate in the 2200’s. Has consistently produced for high level travel teams over the years. |

Adrian Epps OF / 2B / West Bloomfield, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 7
Report: OF Adrian Epps is a two sport athlete that also plays defensive back in football. Has an explosive first step and plays much faster than his 6.98 sixty time indicates. One of the top defensive CF in the state. 93 mph exit velocity at the plate with an 85 mph outfield velocity. |

Alex Cheeseman SS / 2B / Brother Rice, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 45 / POS: 8
Report: SS Alex Cheeseman is an athletic middle infield prospect who is a strong defender. Soft hand with a clean transfer on the infield showing a live arm that has been up to 90 across the infield. Moves well laterally putting his sub 6.6 60 time on display. Was a defensive standout at Future Games last summer. Athleticism translates to the plate where he has a middle of the field approach. |

Ty Uchman 1B / LHP / Grand Rapids Christian, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 50 / POS: 2
Report: 1B/LHP Ty Uchman is a left handed two way prospect. Built on a strong 2021 season at the plate with an impressive round of BP at ProCase. Posted a 99 MPH exit velocity hitting multiple balls over 330 feet. Projectable 6-foot-2, 185 pound frame on the mound. Has flashed a three pitch mix with a fastball low to mid 80’s. Two way player to follow this spring as he returns to the mound after not throwing last season. |

Abel Gutierrez C / 2B / Western International, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 73 / POS: 10
Report: C Abel Gutierrez is a middle infield and catching prospect that showcases qualities at both positions. Hardworking player that leaves it all on the diamond. Has a smooth transfer on the infield and a 1.97-2.05 pop time behind the plate with an 93 mph exit velocity. Put together a number of highlight reel plays defensively behind the dish and has the ability to shut down opposing teams on the basepaths. |

Report: RHP Will DeMasse showed a nice velocity jump on the mound at ProCase this winter. Ran his fastball up to 90 MPH at the event showing good command of a three pitch mix. |

Trenton Vagi RHP / 1B / Marysville, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 53 / POS: 17
Report: RHP Trenton Vagi is a projectable pitching prospect. 6-foot-3, 195 pound frame on the mound works at an up tempo pace. Fastball was up to 89 with a 2300 spin rate at Eastern Michigan Preseason All State. Also threw a slider and curveball that both had an average spin rate over 2200. Raw power at the plate is evident with a 100 MPH exit velocity. |

Dominic Mauro RHP / 3B / Davison, MI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 56 / POS: 20
Report: RHP Dominic Mauro is a pitching prospect with a 6-foot, 210 pound strong physical build. High effort guy on the mound with a short quick arm action. Throws a heavy ball on the mound running his fastball up to 90 this winter. 4 pitch repertoire on the mound showing a 12/6 curveball, sweeping slider and a changeup to keep hitters off balance. |
