The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Belmont High School enters the 2026 season under head coach Michael Hindman looking to turn the page after an 8–20 campaign that ended in the first round of the MHSAA 3A playoffs. Competing in District 1, the Cardinals return a solid group of varsity contributors while continuing to develop a young core that should provide both immediate impact and long-term growth.

Offensively, Belmont brings back several key position players, led by Peyton Pharr (2026, Northeast Mississippi CC), a steady presence at shortstop who also contributes on the mound. Parker Stanley (2026) returns with versatility behind the plate and in the outfield, while Miller Searcy (2027) and Collin Evetts (2027) give the Cardinals athleticism and stability in the middle infield and at third base. Kylei Estes (2027) provides experience in the outfield, and Madden Wood (2028) adds size and power potential at first base as one of the program’s top young bats.

On the mound, Belmont features a deeper pitching staff than in recent seasons. Left-hander Casey Myers (2027) headlines the group, while Wood returns as a promising right-handed arm after gaining valuable innings as a freshman. Pharr and Searcy offer additional reliability out of the bullpen or in spot starts, and Tryce Burton (2027) rounds out a group that brings both experience and flexibility. The Cardinals will also lean on a talented group of impact underclassmen, including Aaden Rojas (2028), Kylan Williams (2028), and freshmen Hank Humphries (2029) and Garrett Johnson (2029), as Belmont looks to take meaningful steps forward in District 1 play during the 2026 season.
