2026 OUTLOOK
+ Lawrence County High School enters the 2026 season with confidence after finishing 20–18 and capturing the District 12AAA Tournament Championship under head coach Clint Wright. Competing in TSSAA AAA, the Wildcats return a strong core of athletes who helped fuel last season’s postseason run, along with an impressive group of underclassmen ready to take on expanded roles.
The lineup is anchored by Brooks Durham (2027), the unquestioned leader behind the plate. A high-IQ game manager, Durham brings toughness, stability, and leadership on and off the field, while also projecting to hit for average with emerging power. Up the middle, Jack Emerson (2027) provides lockdown defense at shortstop, plus speed, and a gap-to-gap offensive approach. On the mound and in the lineup, Logan Mays (2027) stands out as a premier two-way talent, running his fastball up to 91 mph while mixing three pitches effectively.
Athleticism is a defining trait for this Lawrence County roster, highlighted by Logan Clayton (2026), an elite all-around athlete and the school’s QB1 in football. Clayton brings plus speed, a strong right-handed bat, and tremendous range in center field, while also touching 88 mph on the mound. Jake Moore (2028) transitions from second base to third after hitting .382 as a freshman and showing significant strength gains, while Hud Mattox (2028) offers versatility at second base and catcher after batting .333 in his first varsity season. At the top of the lineup, Bracyn Rose (2028) impressed as a freshman leadoff hitter, posting a .444 on-base percentage; his 6-foot-3 left-handed frame and fluid movement make him one of the more projectable players on the roster.
On the mound, Lawrence County boasts both depth and upside. Mays and Clayton headline the staff, supported by Chace Carr (2028), Case Chapman (2027), who has refined his arm slot and commands three pitches for strikes, along with Landon Bracey (2028) and Callum McCawley (2028), both of whom bring quality stuff and strike-throwing ability. With championship experience, high-level athleticism, and a wave of impact underclassmen including Jasper Kilburn, Lawrence County enters 2026 positioned to defend its district title and remain a serious contender in 12AAA.
