2026 OUTLOOK

+ Lake County enters the 2026 season with optimism as a young, athletic core continues to mature after gaining valuable varsity experience a year ago. While the win–loss column didn’t fully reflect it in 2025, the Falcons return a roster loaded with underclassmen who have already proven they can produce at a high level. That experience, combined with speed across the lineup and positional versatility, gives Lake County a strong foundation to build on moving forward in District 14A.

Offensively, the lineup is anchored by a talented 2028 class that brings both production and upside. Shortstop Sawyer Roberson is the tone-setter after one of the most impressive seasons in the state, hitting .481 with 14 doubles, two triples, a home run, 28 stolen bases, and 20 RBIs. Roberson’s ability to impact the game in multiple ways makes him a constant threat at the top of the order. Bryson Johnson adds another dynamic presence in the middle infield after batting .403 with 20 RBIs and 20 stolen bases, while also providing value as a two-way option. Behind the plate, Cade Lanier brings stability and toughness after hitting .351 with 26 hits and 17 stolen bases, showcasing both offensive production and athleticism at the catcher position.

The Falcons also return key complementary pieces throughout the lineup. John Aydon Cochran adds versatility as a corner bat and arm, hitting .324 with 17 RBIs while contributing on the mound. Center fielder Jake Clanton is a name to watch as he returns fully healthy from a torn labrum—despite appearing in just eight games last season, he still managed to steal 10 bases, flashing elite speed and range in the outfield. Dakahi Clark provides additional athleticism as a two-way option, giving Lake County flexibility in how they construct both the lineup and pitching staff.

On the mound, Lake County will rely on a mix of returning arms and emerging young talent. Cochran, Johnson, and Russell Ragan all return with varsity innings under their belts, while Harrison Metoyer headlines the next wave of arms. Metoyer, a 2029, is expected to contribute immediately both on the mound and at third base, bringing advanced feel and competitiveness for his age. Camden Lanier, another 2029, adds further depth as a pitcher and infielder, while Antonio Molina (2026) and Braiden “Frankie” Seiber (2027) are additional names that could carve out meaningful roles as the season progresses.

With speed up and down the roster, several multi-sport athletes, and a nucleus that is only getting better with experience, Lake County has the ingredients to take a step forward in 2026. As this group continues to develop physically and mentally, the Falcons will look to turn flashes of potential into consistent results and establish themselves as a competitive presence in 1A play.
