LJ Hatch
Director of Scouting- Prep Baseball Tournaments KC

As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Power Tool Class of 2027

Matt Meeker OF / 1B / Waukee High School, IA / 2027

A 2025 Futures Games standout, Meeker leads us into the 2027 class and may possess some of the biggest power we’ve seen, period. At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Meeker posted top exit velocities of 106 mph at the Futures Games and more recently reached a peak exit velo of 112 mph at the Max Clark Slugfest 2026.

During his time in Kansas City, he made our fields look like tee-ball parks, launching opposite-field home runs in three straight games on Championship Sunday. The Arkansas commit is poised for a big junior year, and we expect his power numbers to continue to skyrocket.
