The 2026 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a challenging 2025 campaign that saw the Wichita Falls Legacy Leopards finish with a 4-21 record, the program enters the 2026 season in its second year and under Head Coach Jeremy Crouch. Competing in UIL Classification 5A-4, the Leopards are looking to build a new culture centered on a strong desire to improve and compete. While the team lost key contributor Riley Thomas at catcher to the collegiate ranks, the foundation for growth is set with a significant number of returning players across the diamond.

The 2026 roster will be anchored by a core group of six returning position players and a deep pitching staff that includes three returning starters and five relief arms. Key veteran leadership is expected from seniors C/1B Jo Block, C/SS Jadon Williams, and OF/P Cooper Mckie, alongside junior SS/P Cohen Baber. This experienced group provides the Leopards with versatility and stability as they navigate their 2026 schedule.

In addition to the returning veterans, the Leopards are integrating several promising young prospects who are expected to make an immediate impact. Freshman to watch include INF/P Ean Schlager, while fellow newcomers INF/P Grant Hoover (2028) and INF/RHP Cooper Carter (2028) add further depth to the infield and pitching rotation. With a blend of established upperclassmen and hungry new talent, Wichita Falls Legacy is positioned to see steady progress in all aspects of the program throughout the 2026 season.
